This is the most thoroughly specified device WAU sells and the most expensive, and the two facts are related: seven spectra each with a published wavelength, two infrared bands, a 15-minute cut-off, a graded four-week course and an instruction to patch-test the forearm first. That procedural detail is genuinely better than anything else in the range. What is still missing is dose - no irradiance, no power, no LED count - so the wavelengths describe what light is emitted but nothing about how much. Two claims stand out as specific enough to need a source and published without one: that 830 nm penetrates 4-5 cm, and that blue light destroys P. acnes bacteria. Both are technical assertions rather than marketing adjectives, which is precisely why they should carry a citation. Note also that the campaign asset folder supplied for this product contains another brand’s marketing material and before-and-after photographs; none of it has been published here. A South African price, availability and warranty position still need to be established.

PowderedPurple has not tested this mask and does not present it as a treatment for acne, ageing, pigmentation or any skin condition. WAU's own user manual (model FM-23) carries a long list of contraindications that its product page does not, and they are worth reading before you buy. Do not use it if you have lupus, photosensitive eczema or albinism - WAU warns that phototherapy in these conditions may cause a severe skin reaction. Do not use it if you have any photosensitivity disorder, a history of light-triggered epileptic seizures, open wounds, sunburn within the past two weeks, severe acne, a thyroid disorder, or if you are taking thyroid medication. WAU also rules it out for Fitzpatrick skin types I, V and VI - that is, both the very fairest and the deeper skin tones - which is a real limitation worth checking against your own skin before buying. If you take any medication that increases sensitivity to light, WAU names antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs and diuretics and says to consult your physician first. Carry out the sensitivity test WAU describes before your first session, use it only on cleansed bare skin, do not look into the light, take it off if it feels hot, and keep to the 15-minute timer and WAU's build-up schedule. Not for infants, and children should not use it unsupervised.

• These are the manufacturer’s own statements, quoted from its product page. WAU cites no supporting evidence and PowderedPurple has not verified them. The 4-5 cm penetration figure and the antibacterial statement are specific technical assertions published without a source. Acne is a clinical concern and this mask is not presented here as a treatment for it. Nothing on this page is medical advice.
